About Us                                                                           Our History

The bar area

The Crown pub and restaurant is very easy to find on the A329 in the south Oxfordshire village of Stadhampton. Licensees Graham & Sam have made a big impact within the local area and have definitely put the Crown back on the map.

The pub appeals to many people, with quality fresh food served daily,  excellent ales and wines, traditional pub games, regular entertainment and a genuine warm and friendly welcome.

The Crown was recently completely refurbished. The bar has a relaxed drinking area plus a large space for pool and TV sport. We also have a separate restaurant which can seat 36 diners.

We don't offer accommodation, but we can recommend a friendly Bed & Breakfast on a nearby farm.

Mr & Mrs Skinner, landords in 1922

The Crown was first recorded as a pub in 1720. These pictures show that the Crown once comprised of two different buildings. In 1927 the smaller of the two buildings was demolished and an extension similar in style to the remaining part of the pub was added - forming the much larger building we know today. Originally The Crown stocked 'Watlington Ales' before being bought by Oxford's Morrell's Brewery. In 2002 Greene King acquired the failing Morrell's estate and invested in a complete refurbishment of The Crown in 2006.
